Christmas Gift dump, part one

By SewDucky

In the spirit of the Holidays, this is what I did most of last month.

You all saw the french cupcake pincushion. This is the rest of my mom’s Christmas gifts:

On Anna Maria’s blog, she had it as a recipe card holder. I, in true duck-like fashion, made it a thing. That snaps. I have no idea what my mom is going to do with it, nor did I bother telling her it was for recipes, or she’d of never used it.

In addition to that, I made another matching thing.

Thanks to Cindy Lou for the tutorial I used (there are several but hers made the most sense.)

And because I make my mom an ornament every year, and I didn’t have felt for the bitten Gingerbread man, I made this mitten, compliments of the tutorial at disdressed.

And because of my kid this make it about 10 times harder then it needed to be. What on earth possesses them to turn the %$%!#@ tension dial! Then he jammed the printer too, which I had to free hand the mitten based on the dimensions, and I am NOT an artist.

And finally, I have this:

My mother, when they moved from Texas to Tennessee, had one of these she bought and somehow got lost. For four years, we heard ALL about this stupid stocking, and my mother refused to have one or repurchase one. So. I took a retro styled oxford heel and traced it onto paper (this stocking is an exact match for my own foot btw) because it had a large square heel, and sort of freehanded the top (again, I cannot draw and I am not an artist.) I made the pattern based on an ornament I have bought, and just sort of made it sort of usable. Nothing can really go into the toe or heel and it’s not really usable to hold much (I got the ornament, tissue holder and a bag of candy in it tho.)

The purple styling, while it looks like I meant to do that was because it was the only thing that matched. I have some dark purple brocade, and some red/black brocade, but nothing matched the former and my mother would have screamed at the latter since black is not Christmas-y. The thing and tissue holder…well, I had it.

So that is what I did for my mom. Tomorrow, I’ll show you my sister and dad’s stuff.
